From Ritual to Relationship
How striving was replaced with surrender—and why alignment is now a gift, not a goal
If you’ve been following along, I have been taking us through a journey of the Bible… all through the lens of one word: ALIGNMENT.
Currently, we’re just finishing up Leviticus.
Leviticus.
Let’s be honest—Leviticus can feel like a lot.
Rules. Rituals. Repetition.
Skin diseases, sacrifices, and systems that feel far removed from our modern world.
It’s easy to skim it… skip it… or even read it through a modern lens without fully understanding the context in which it was written.
But what if we’re missing something sacred? Something we need to see in today’s time?
What if Leviticus isn’t just a book of rules…
…but a revelation of God’s heart?
The Question That Changes Everything
If you read Leviticus through this lens, everything shifts:
“How can a holy God dwell among imperfect people… without destroying them?”
That’s the question Leviticus is answering.
Because the reality is—God’s holiness isn’t casual. It’s not something to be approached lightly. His presence is pure, powerful, and perfect. So the tension becomes clear: How does perfection come close to imperfection… without consuming it?
That’s the backdrop of everything you’re reading.
Not: “How do we behave better?” or “How do we follow rules perfectly?”
Those are surface-level interpretations.
The deeper question is: “How does God make a way to be near us?”
And even more than that… “What does it require for a people to live in proximity to His presence?”
Because from the very beginning, God’s desire was never distance—it was dwelling.
Leviticus isn’t about restriction.
It’s about restoration—a divine re-alignment.
It’s about a holy God, in His mercy, creating a system—not to push people away—but to make a way to come close without being consumed.
And when you see it that way, the rules stop feeling random or restrictive, and start revealing something powerful:
God didn’t lower His standard to be with us—He created a way to bring us into it.
Clean vs. Unclean: It Was Never Just About Rules
In Leviticus chapters 13–15 (if you haven’t read it in a while, I encourage you to pause and go read it right now), we see detailed instructions about:
Skin diseases
Bodily discharges
What is clean vs. unclean
At first glance, it feels uncomfortable—even confusing. But this wasn’t about shame. It was actually about life vs. death.
Clean = whole, ordered, life-giving
Unclean = broken, disordered, connected to decay
God wasn’t pushing people away. He was teaching them: this is not how things were meant to be.
The Israelites had been in captivity for generations. Now they were being formed into something entirely new—a people who would know God and carry His presence.
But there was a gap…
A gap between who they were and who God said they were…
A gap between what they believed and what God was teaching them, between ritual and relationship, between an unholy people and a holy God.
This gap proved their was a process and this process was revealing a deeper truth:
You cannot carry what is breaking down into the presence of perfect life without transformation.
Or simply put: What got you here won’t take you where God is calling you.
And if we’re honest… that still applies to us today.
We’re Not So Different
We may not live under Levitical law, but we still wrestle with:
Old mindsets
Old belief systems
Old patterns that try to follow us into new places
Even with the promises of God before us, we can find ourselves questioning them, ignoring them, or getting distracted by the things of this world.
And ultimately, we miss the invitation into this same sort of divine transformation.
This process has a name:
Alignment.
Leviticus wasn’t random—it was training ground.
A way to teach a people how to live in proximity with a holy God.
The rules weren’t punishment.
They were protection.
And a reminder:
Holiness matters.
Proximity matters.
Alignment matters.
Then Jesus Steps In…
And everything changes.
Jesus didn’t come to abolish the law—He came to fulfill it.
Even the Levitical law.
And this is where it gets breathtaking…
Just as we see in Leviticus 13–15, uncleanness created distance.
But in the Gospels:
The man with leprosy (Mark 1:40–42),
The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25–34),
The dead girl (Mark 5:35–43),
…all were considered unclean.
Untouchable.
Yet Jesus…Touches them!! And heals them!
And instead of their condition spreading to Him…His holiness transforms them.
In Leviticus:
Uncleanness spreads
Boundaries protect
In Jesus:
Holiness spreads
Presence restores
What once required distance, ritual, and regulation…is now met with proximity, power, and transformation.
Then, in Leviticus 16 the Day of Atonement is introduced. One day a year, a sacrifice is made and sin is covered. A scapegoat carries it away.
It allowed God to dwell among His people. But it was temporary—on purpose.
Because it was pointing forward.
To Jesus.
Jesus becomes: The perfect sacrifice, the one true High Priest. The scapegoat who carries sin away…your sin.
And everything shifts:
What was once earned through effort…is now given through grace.
What This Means for You Today
You are not living under:
Constant ritual
Perpetual perfection
Fear or unworthiness
You are invited into relationship.
But that doesn’t mean Leviticus is irrelevant.
It reminds us:
Holiness still matters
God’s presence is still sacred
Alignment is still essential
The difference?
You’re no longer striving to earn it.
You’re learning to:
Recognize it
Respond to it
Walk in it
Alignment Has Changed
Then:
Alignment was external
Through rules, sacrifice, and separation
Now:
Alignment is internal
Through a relationship with the Lord and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit
What once had to be managed by imperfect people…is now sustained by God Himself.
This is divine alignment because now, a relationship with God doesn’t come from striving harder…
It comes from walking fully in what’s already been given.
Alignment isn’t about getting everything right…It’s about recognizing your right standing with Him.
You are not striving to become acceptable.
You are learning to live from what has already been made available.
It’s time to Arise & Align.
So How Do You Step Into Daily Alignment?
I’m SO GLAD you asked.
And trust me, it’s not by adding pressure—but by creating space.
Alignment isn’t something you force… it’s something you enter.
This is actually part of what I teach in my 7-Step Arise & Align Morning Routine—a Spirit-led rhythm designed to help you move from striving into surrender, and from overwhelm into clarity.
And today, I want to lead you through the first three steps—because if you can anchor here, everything else begins to shift:
Breath. Gratitude. Visualization.
Step 1: Start with Breath — Slow Down & Become Aware
Before you do anything… pause.
Breathe deeply and remind your body and spirit: God is near.
Let your breath become your reset.
Inhale His presence.
Exhale the pressure.
Ask:
“Lord, help me become aware of You right now.”
“Where have I been striving that You’re inviting me to surrender?”
Alignment begins when you stop rushing and start recognizing.
Step 2: Move into Gratitude — Shift Your Focus
Gratitude realigns your perspective.
It pulls you out of lack, pressure, and performance… and roots you back into truth.
Take a moment to thank Him:
For who He is
For what He’s already done
For what He’s already given
Even before you “feel” it fully.
Ask:
“God, what have I overlooked that You’ve already provided?”
“Where can I acknowledge Your goodness in my life right now?”
Gratitude reminds you: You’re not trying to get God to move… He already has.
Step 3: Visualization — See What He Sees
Now, align your heart with His vision.
Not your fears. Not your past. Not your limitations.
Ask:
“Holy Spirit, how do You see me today?”
“What does it look like for me to walk in alignment with You in this season?”
Begin to picture:
Yourself walking in peace instead of pressure
Responding in truth instead of reacting in emotion
Moving with confidence, clarity, and trust
See yourself living from identity—not striving for it.
Because alignment isn’t just something you believe…
It’s something you begin to embody.
This is how you return.
Not once. But throughout your day.
You are not striving to become acceptable.
You are learning to live from what has already been made available.
This is divine alignment.
It’s time to Arise & Align.
Reflection Questions
Take a moment to slow down and sit with these:
Where in my life am I still striving instead of surrendering?
Do I view my relationship with God through the lens of performance or presence?
What “old patterns” or mindsets might God be inviting me to release in this season?
How have I misunderstood God’s heart when it comes to holiness and alignment?
Where is God inviting me to move from external effort to internal transformation?
Let these questions lead you into conversation with Him—not condemnation, but invitation.
If this resonated with you…
Don’t just move on—pause and sit with it.
Take a moment to reflect on where God may be inviting you into deeper understanding of your identity in Him.
Then, if you feel led, I’d love to hear from you—what is God revealing to you in this season? Your story might be the very encouragement someone else needs today.
And if this message blessed you, consider sharing it with a friend who may be walking through their own wilderness season. You never know how one word of truth can shift someone’s perspective.
